I opened my first gym in August 2006 whilst still serving as a soldier with the regiment based in Plymouth. I have to say a very big thank you to all the guys at 29 Commando Regt that supported me through my endeavours to open my own business. The opening of the gym by my then commanding officer, was one of my proudest days and I am forever grateful.
I decided to leave the forces as I had a plan. I wanted to build Plymouths first affordable fitness centre. Not only did I want the gym to be great value, I also wanted to ensure that all people were made to feel welcome regardless of size or shape. I was more than aware just how intimidating a gym can be, especially if you have never set foot in one before.
The fitness model was an instant success and we quickly opened another gym, which is the largest gym in Cornwall, located in Truro. Over the last ten years I have tried to stick to that plan and have expanded the facilities numerous times. Those changes have resulted in the facility it is today.
We are honestly the most upbeat gym in Plymouth and deliver the most exciting, challenging and varied class timetable you will find. The gym staff, class instructors and our members are the friendliest gym community and often described as a family. They are the people that make Morgan’s what it is, and they help us deliver our ethos ‘Fitness For All’.
I’m proud of that reputation especially as we are a family run business. The name Morgan’s is our family name on my Mums side and the club is named after and in memory of my Aunty Glyn and Uncle Kevin who lost their fight with cancer in recent years. My amazing mum runs our gym in Truro whilst I take care of Plymouth, along with my sister and our awesome team.
To conclude, I would like to say our door is open to all, you will find a welcoming friendly team of people including staff and members that will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Come and meet us soon.
